A minute and ten seconds about the whole thing: an ad written from a couple of photos, translation in both directions, search for what is nearby, and storefronts for local makers.
What Ovdix is
Ovdix is where people and small local businesses buy and sell close to home. Posting an ad, search, filters, the map and chat with the seller are all free, with no commission on deals.
We built it for people who moved: local marketplaces are unreadable without the language, and the expat alternative is messenger groups — a feed with no search, no filters and no map, where an ad lives for half an hour.
How the translation works
Translation is part of the product, not an add-on:
- An ad is published in the author's language and shown to each reader in theirs — title, description and category.
- Chat messages are translated both ways: everyone writes in their own language.
- The original is always one tap away — you can see that a text was translated and open the source.
Where it works
Ads are tied to a city and a radius. Listings are already live in these countries:
Open for posting, but with no listings yet: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Moldova.
